Navy Underground on Flickr.The stairs down into the former Japanese Navy Underground HQ on Okinawa, Japan where the Japanese imperial Navy waited out the American shelling.  Towards the end of the battle, the commander sent forward a telegram about the plight of the Okinawan citizens, wrote a poem, and then committed suicide with 130 of his followers.  This is the main entrance into the tunnel network.
