Welcome to Karakui.net, a website that covers our love for all things Okinawan pop culture. Sound familiar? We are the ones who brought Okinawan pop culture to the English-reading masses on our Karakui.com blog and prior to that, we wrote for Okinawa.ws, Okinawa.com (before those two domains went to owners other than the awesome Donna over at Champuru.net), OkinawanMusic.org, and The Uzagaku Project.
You must be wondering: why start a new website? We’ve been writing about Okinawan pop culture for more than a decade and we’ve been at Karakui.com (which is hosted on the fantastic WP.com) for over 5 years and thought, maybe it’s time to try something new. That something new is Tumblr. We think Tumblr is a perfect fit to the way we post articles to the Web and we believe this will make us update more often (if you haven’t noticed, we have been slipping on our updates at Karakui.com in the past year). And more updates should equate to happier readers who are interested in learning more about Okinawan pop culture.
